Through the lab tests with various structural models, students may obtain further impressions with the theories that they learned in the classes of Material Mechanics and Structural Mechanics. Concepts on equilibrium and deformation will be emphasized. Knowledge about reaction force, axial force, torsion, shear force, shear center, bending moment, and their corresponding deflections will be elaborated in depth. The objective of this course is to train students to have a correct manner of doing lab tests and become right-handed in applying mechanics theories on the hand-on operations. After the course, students shall demonstrate the ability to design and set up a simple lab test to measure the load-response and shall be able to understand and evaluate the signals they measure.
